{furbish + favorite floral pillows}

do you know about furbish? it's my favorite new store for pillows & home accessories. jamie mears opened up a storefront in raleigh, nc and just recently launched an online store for those of us who aren't local to raleigh. i fell in love with these gorgeous floral pillows made from vintage fabric. funny story about the fabric: it actually had a former life as drapes in a nc sorority house. when the sorority decided to redecorate, jamie somehow got a few yards of it and turned it into pillows -- genius!
i ordered a pair for the bungalow but can't fully decide on the room where they should permanently live. but right now i love them with our green velvet headboard.

{boho sophisticate}

usually am one for cool colors, there's something about the persimmony reds and hints of aqua in this bedroom. a white chandelier and a bit of black to anchor the colorful florals adds sophistication. also betting that headboard was thrifted somewhere & painted.

{happy weekend + springtime at home}

didn't mean for this week to come and go with nothing happening here at {s&s}. my mother came in town to help deal with some of the chaos around the bungalow and to lend a hand at painting the sunroom studio {pictures soon, promise}. and then i took the last few days of the week to go back to my hometown of blythewood, sc {where the internet doesn't exist, apparently} to clean out our overflow furniture in mom's storage unit now that we have places to put it all. {and in doing so have come to the conclusion that a bungalow garage sale is imminent.} anyway, came across this house tour at apartment therapy: modern florals + lattice grey + pop of yellow.

{tropical punch fiesta}

happy, happy long-weekend-friday.

this weekend i am embarking on my final trip of the 6weekendsinarowoutoftownextravaganza.
whew.

the occasion is my little sister's hen party (hen party = cuter than bachelorette party, no?) and in really just a matter of hours, i will be meeting j & ten of her closest friends at the south carolina seashore for a tropical punch fiesta. meaning there will be sangria. and pineapple upside down cake cocktails. and homemade guacamole. and apricot slushees. and lots and lots of baby coronitas. also, can i tell you my new favorite party obsession (j-don't click this link if you read this before this weekend.) i mean, how perfect is this one for the party?

ok so in keeping with the weekend theme, and to brighten things up a bit after yesterday's white wash, how bout a blast of color and happy florals to send you on your weekend.

p.s. fit for celebrations :: put champagne bubbles to work.

{wallflower}

putting up and {especially} taking down wallpaper can be such a royal pain. my mother and i spent hours peeling off strips of ugly olive green grasscloth wallpaper in my room when i was in high school and i can remember swearing off the sticky sheets for good.

though when the paper instantly turns a boring wall into a romantic garden, the pain to get it up there {or to take the old stuff down} suddenly seems worthwhile. but there is the possibility of too much of a good thing, so i'd probably try to corral my garden onto one wall for a more modern feel.

thinking i could get behind florals in the kitchen. not sure b would be on that train though.

floral overload. but i think in smaller doses i would really like the paper and fabric {actually i really love the fabric, just maybe not as a dustruffle}

above right :: success! accent wall brings instant glamour to what could otherwise be a very boring office.

loving some of the seventies' style florals.

{cheerful elegance}

anna spiro's {of absolutely beautiful things} bright and happy brisbane home tour on apartment therapy can't help but make you smile. summery florals, stripes and hot pink pop against the clean white backdrop. proof to my husband that there are in fact women with more pillows on the sofa. but hey, i'll trade in a few pillows for the piles of design books in anna's gorgeous home.
