{swedish color}

can't get enough of this little bedroom nook in this colorful indian-inspired swedish apartment.

a white filigree screen is perfect for creating division in a tiny space. love that she can use the opposite side as a backdrop for her closet.

{summer petals}

have lately been drawn to light pastels with neutrals and a backdrop of white.
and could easily move right into this bedroom.

{cheerful elegance}

anna spiro's {of absolutely beautiful things} bright and happy brisbane home tour on apartment therapy can't help but make you smile. summery florals, stripes and hot pink pop against the clean white backdrop. proof to my husband that there are in fact women with more pillows on the sofa. but hey, i'll trade in a few pillows for the piles of design books in anna's gorgeous home.

{painting the roses white}

i know there are plenty of people who love the natural look of a brick fireplace but i have a weak spot for a painted hearth. i think a couple coats of white paint can transform a living area into a bright and simplified space.

{bungalow layout}

i know this is an office space, but this is the feel i would want for the bungalow once the space was opened up. this goes along with yesterdays white walls post. love the windows and the subtle harlequin floor

beautiful barn doors at the entrance + screen doors to boot.

here is a photo of the outside of this workspace with extra row of windows on the roof. i wonder how expensive/difficult it would be to add that to the bungalow roof.

it's a {white} wash

after returning from a weekend at the beach, i've been thinking about elements that give a house the laid-back quality that we are going for in our soon to be Vacation Everyday Home. natural light and lofty ceilings are two things that come to mind. if there's a {budget-permitting} way, we'd love to open up the standard 8 foot ceilings to the roof line to create an airy cottage, sleeping on the backporch kind of feeling in our dream-bungalow.

i would move right into this bedroom : white plank walls, ceiling and even the floor + a flood of sunlight. i also like the idea of a fabric canopy (or vintage sail cloth??!) over the bed to frame the area and also to add some softness to the room.

relaxing neutral tones...

notice how the middle wall does not go all the way up to the ceiling. i'm not sure which i'd prefer, but i like the look of this with the exposed beams...

would love a skylight or two...

the decor here is way too cutesy but take a look at the walls + ceiling...

{a bungalow bath}

really innovative (+ budget friendly!) use of the corrugated metal roofing sheet. a chandelier + ruffles add glamour and romance.

also adding two more bathrooms to this post that have the same feel with the soft neutrals.
